New Trident (2024)

Not yet published, New Trident is a portrait-by-prose of a city steeped in clouds and mist and magic.

 

Loosely based on Portland, Oregon, New Trident is probably my most experimental work of fiction to date. An introspective main character tells the story of the city, an explosion of nature, and a nebulously-defined "trance" that affects the town's residents that might either be civilization's undoing or the next stage in humanity's evolution. His manner of storytelling straddles stream-of-consciousness and first-person perspective such that his impressions are set out on paper, yet there is a flow to the story that is highly compelling.
